This promise is part of the Terms of Service. It covers every account that has bought credit and has not had all of it refunded or charged back (a "paid account").
1. What we promise
The Runtime Cloud API is available at least 99% of every calendar month, in UTC. In a 30-day month, 99% leaves 7 hours and 12 minutes of downtime.
2. How it is measured
A check from outside our servers calls the API every two minutes. Its results are published, hour by hour and day by day, on the status page. A month's uptime is the share of that month's checks that passed. A check that did not run counts neither way.
The promise covers the API as that check sees it. It does not cover:
- a feature marked prerelease, preview, beta, trial or private testing (section 5 of the Terms of Service);
- a problem in your own code, network or the services your sandboxes reach.
3. What you get when we miss it
If a month's uptime is below 99%, every paid account receives service credit equal to 10% of what it was charged for the Services in that month. An account charged nothing that month receives nothing, and neither does an account that is suspended or closed when we add the credit.
You do not need to ask. We add the credit within the first seven days of the next month and email the account's owners when we do. The account's billing page lists it as service credit.
4. Service credit
Service credit is free credit. It is spent like any other credit, has no cash value, and cannot be refunded, transferred or exchanged for cash. It expires 12 months after we add it.
Service credit is your sole remedy for the API being unavailable. It does not limit any right that the law gives you and that cannot be limited by contract.
5. Changes
We may change this promise in the way section 18 of the Terms of Service allows us to change the terms. A change never lowers the promise for a month that has already begun.
