Speed: browser create time and rival providers, measured the same way
browsers.create is now measured every five minutes. The time runs from POST /v1/browsers until the browser's CDP WebSocket answers Browser.getVersion, which is the point where Playwright or Puppeteer can connect. The CDP exchange carries no Server-Timing, so all of its time is counted as Runtime's own. speed.json also includes a rivals array. Each rival is timed from the same location as Runtime, through the provider's own public API, to the same outcome as the Runtime operation it is compared with (compares). Browserbase, Steel, Hyperbrowser and Browser Use are timed until CDP answers. E2B, Daytona and Vercel Sandbox are timed until the sandbox is running. Rivals return no Server-Timing, so each line reports total time only. A rival is listed only after it has been measured with its own API key; nothing is estimated. Each rival's history is available from speed/history.json?op=rivals.<name>.<operation> (speed).
