What shipped in Runtime Cloud on 29 September 2026: global installs run by name, and pnpm and yarn are ready; private previews work inside your own site's iframe; disk-only snapshots; large uploads say where they go; image builds ask for the disk they need; wakes read memory from memory; keys with one label are told apart; a mistyped address finds its page; faster disks, shared fairly; and a paused sandbox shows no live use.

Global installs run by name, and pnpm and yarn are ready

In a new sandbox, npm install -g failed without sudo, and with it, or with bun add -g, the command installed but was not found. Now all three put their commands on PATH, so npm install -g @anthropic-ai/claude-code gives you claude straight away, and pnpm and yarn work through Corepack. See the sandbox environment.

Private previews work inside your own site's iframe

Set an iframe's src to a preview's urlWithToken: the link keeps its token for your site alone, a paused sandbox shows its waking page in the frame and reloads by itself, and a public preview skips its warning page when it is framed. See previews.

Disk-only snapshots

mode: "disk" on a snapshot keeps only the root filesystem, and a sandbox created from it boots fresh with your files and no saved processes. Memory snapshots stay the default. See the API.

Large uploads say where they go

An upload to a path outside /workspace is refused with a hint to move the file with a command after it lands, and a file write too big for files/content names /uploads. See the API.

Image builds ask for the disk they need

A build with less than 4 GiB GiB of scratch disk is refused before it queues, with the size it needs. See the build machine.

Wakes read memory from memory

A paused sandbox's memory image stays in the server's memory until its wake, so waking no longer reads it back from disk first.

Keys with one label are told apart

The list of keys to revoke shows when each was made, and the Agents & API keys page loads again for every account, with Try again asking the server afresh.

A mistyped address finds its page

The not-found page shows the address you asked for, the closest page the site has, and the pages people most often want.

Faster disks, shared fairly

A sandbox's disk no longer has a fixed speed or a burst to run out. It shares its server's drives with the sandboxes beside it, in proportion: at least about 40 MB/s each way, and up to about 1 GB/s when its neighbours are quiet. A busy neighbour slows your writes a little rather than stalling them, and a pause stays quick on a busy server. See the sandbox environment.

A paused sandbox shows no live use

Your account, the CLI and the metrics API showed a sandbox paused a few minutes earlier as still using CPU and memory, from its last reading before it slept. Now latest is empty unless the sandbox is running, and a paused sandbox reads as using nothing. See observability.
